Manuel Vejar
University of Notre Dame

Manuel Vejar is a second-year PhD student at the University of Notre Dame. He is a former Ronald McNair Scholar and a Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation Fellow from the California State Polytechnic University Pomona, where he received a B.Sc. in Geology. He is also an alumnus of two Research Experiences for Undergraduates programs, at Chapman University in 2016 and Stanford University in 2018. His current research focuses on surface-mediated reduction of plutonium in the presence of aluminum-substituted hematite, with the goal of testing and informing geochemical models used to assess nuclear waste repository performance.
