Levi Gardner

Levi Gardner is a PhD student studying metallurgical engineering at the University of Utah. Having spent time working in commercial radioactive waste management (Energy Solutions Inc.) and nuclear fuel research (Pacific Northwest National Laboratory), Levi’s career interests have long centered on nuclear technology. As an undergraduate, Levi helped found a student section of the American Nuclear Society at Utah State University and served as its first section president. As a graduate student, he leads a consortium of Utah’s three research universities known as the Utah Nuclear Engineering Student Delegation, whose mission is to coach students on nuclear advocacy and regulation and educate Utah legislators on nuclear issues. Levi’s research focuses on bismuth borosilicate glasses used in nuclear waste salt processing and immobilization. He is currently working to develop his skills as a research and proposal writer with goals of obtaining employment in the national laboratory complex.
