Emily Nienhuis
Washington State University

Emily Nienhuis is a graduate student at Washington State University, where she is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering under the guidance of Dr. John McCloy. Her current research interests focus on structural characterization of glasses with applications to nuclear waste management. Specifically, Emily seeks to better understand the incorporation of anions (such as sulfate, chlorine, etc.) into Low Activity Waste glass from a structural standpoint through x-ray and neutron total scattering techniques. When she is not working in the lab, she spends her free time running with her dog Rusty and playing the ukulele.
