2026 Roy G. Post Foundation Scholarship
The 2026 Scholarship Application will open July 1, 2025.

Eligibility
• Applicants can be pursuing these types of academic programs: two-year, four-year undergraduate, graduate studies, or accredited alternative education programs, and must still be a full-time student at the time of the upcoming WM conference. Applicants must be in at least their third year of studies (including undergraduate studies), except for applicants in a two-year program or an accredited alternative academic program.
• Applicants must be enrolled or accepted in a program relevant to the nuclear or radwaste industries, such as nuclear engineering, radiation protection, environmental science or engineering, or related fields, as well as business-related fields.
• Applicants cannot have previously received a Roy G. Post Foundation scholarship.
• All eligible applicants will be considered regardless of race, gender, religion, nationality, disability, or any other characteristic.

Scholarship Application Deadline

All forms and supporting documentation, including two (2) letters of reference, must be submitted by the deadline, November 1, 2025. Failure to do so, will automatically disqualify the applicant.

Awards

$5,000 - Undergraduate Students
$7,500 - Graduate Students

WM Symposia (WM) will provide Roy G. Post Scholarship winners the following: conference registration, hotel accommodations and travel reimbursement*.

Please note, scholarship recipients are expected to attend the entire conference to receive their scholarships. If a student is selected as a Scholarship recipient, they are required to present a poster describing their work/research during the conference’s opening reception on Sunday evening, March 8th. Scholarship recipients will be recognized during the Next Generation Workforce and Roy G Post Foundation Scholarship Awards and Reception held on Monday, March 9th.

Business attire is appropriate for all aspects of the conference.

Recipients unable to attend the conference, either in whole or in part, must confirm arrangements with WM.

Winners will be informed of their award one (1) month after the application deadline. 

Scholarship applicants will submit an abstract to the Student Poster Competition (please refer to the Student Poster Competition section in Student Guidelines). Only students not receiving a scholarship will be considered for the Student Poster Competition for a chance to win $500 (if they choose to participate). Abstracts must be submitted by the November 1, 2025 deadline.

Scholarship Selection Criteria
The following criteria are used in evaluating scholarship applications: GPA, extracurricular activities, involvement in the industry, financial need, research activities, and letters of reference.


How to Apply for a Scholarship
1. Log-in to your WM Symposia account.
Log-in using your existing User ID and password or create a new WM account by visiting www.wmsym.org and click the “Log-in Here” button on the homepage. Retain your User ID and password once created.

2. Complete the online application.
Please click on the ‘2026 Scholarship Application’ button on your profile homepage. You will receive a confirmation email once your application is successfully submitted.


3. Ensure two (2) letters of reference are provided by the deadline date.
After you complete the online application, please ask your two (2) references to email their reference form to Post Foundation Administrator, Meg Pratt at mpratt@wmsym.org.

4. Submit an abstract to the Student Poster Competition
Select Track 10, Topic 10.04 for the Student Poster Competition. Only students not receiving a 2026 scholarship will be considered for the WM2026 Student Poster Competition (Monday, March 9th) for a chance to win $500 (if they choose to participate). If you are selected as a scholarship recipient, your abstract will be moved to the WM2026 Scholar Poster Display (Sunday, March 8th).

References should be academic or professional sources familiar with their work and potential in the field. Applicants are encouraged to have the authors of the letters ensure they include the relevance and depth of their personal insights into the applicant’s abilities and accomplishments (including academics, teamwork, performance, communication skills, etc.) and future career ambitions.


This is the one and only application format and all other formats are null and void.
